Dear Parent/Guardian:
On March 1st & 2nd, our school will be holding our Jump Rope for Heart event to raise funds for the American Heart Association. All students will participate in the event during their regular Physical Education class times. Last year, our school raised over $5000.00! With tough economic times in mind we have decided to have our goal remain at $5000 again this year.
This event offers many benefits. First, the money our school raises will help fund potentially lifesaving research into heart disease and stroke our nation’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers. It will also fund the development of educational materials that teach the importance of heart health and staying fit. Our school can also earn gift certificates for physical education equipment. Finally, Jump Rope for Heart builds school spirit and helps connect our school with the community, all while participating in heart healthy activities.
Pledge envelopes and money must be returned by Feb 24, 2012. We ask that children do not go door-to- door or ask strangers for donations.
Any contribution is greatly accepted and participation is strictly voluntary! Cash is welcome and checks should be made payable to the American Heart Association.
You may also raise money on line by creating a website for your child by visiting www.americanheart.org/jump. You can send emails asking for donations from all your family, friends and co-workers.
Parents may also see their employers for matching gift forms to double donations. Any student who raises $100 will earn the privilege of participating in a special incentive after school on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 3:15-4:15!
Finally, the attached heart can be filled/cut out and returned to school ASAP to be displayed in the gym to remember why we’re jumping…to help those we love who have heart related conditions.
If you have any questions about our Jump Rope for Heart event or if you are willing to volunteer any time during this week to help count $, please contact either Physical Education Teacher; Kathy_Eckley@hcpss.org or Nelson_Dennis@hcpss.org. We are looking forward to a week of heart pumping fun!
Sincerely,
Kathy Eckley and Nelson Dennis
